The Animal Rights Coalition travels around the Twin Cities and surrounding areas to advocate for animals at many highly attended events each year. ARC uses literature, food samples, and pay-per-view virtual reality headsets to educate communities about animals raised for food and exploited for human benefit in industries such as clothing, research, and entertainment.

PAY-PER-VIEW AT COLLEGES

Pay-per-view virtual reality headsets take the viewer on a 5-minute tour through what it's like to be an animal raised for food. The viewer can choose to see in the eyes of a pig, a chicken, or a cow raised for dairy products. When the video is finished, viewers are given $1 with a packet of information and have a chance to speak with an ARC employee or volunteer about their thoughts after seeing the video. This form of outreach is intense, but extremely effective. Many students leave the table thinking differently about animals than when they arrived. During the school year, we attend colleges all over the Twin Cities such as Augsburg University, Century College, Anoka Ramsey Community College, St. Olaf College, Carleton College, Hamline University, St. Catherine University and more. If you would like to volunteer at a pay-per-view event, please email Volunteer Coordinator, Kelsey, for more information. You can see all upcoming pay-per-view events on the ARC Facebook page.

farmers markets

ARC attends multiple farmers markets throughout the Summer such as Minneapolis, Bloomington, Mill City, Midtown, Kingfield, Linden Hills, Northeast, East Isles, and more! We hand out plant-based recipes for the produce offered at markets and offer a variety of educational information about plant-based nutrition. We also promote our plant-based cooking classes held at Mississippi Market Co-ops and plant-based meal planning and nutrition workshops held at local metro libraries. All upcoming farmers markets dates are listed on the ARC Facebook page during market season (May-October). If you're interested in volunteering at a farmers market with ARC, please email Volunteer Coordinator, Kelsey, for more information.

yearly outreach events

There are a handful of events ARC is sure to add to the calendar each year. These events require more volunteers than usual to hand out literature, offer food samples, set people up with the pay-per-view virtual reality headsets, and answer general questions people may have as they approach the table. You can find all of ARC's upcoming outreach events on the ARC Facebook page. If you're interested in volunteering, email Volunteer Coordinator, Kelsey, for more information.

leafletting

ARC leaflets a few times a year as we see fit, after concerts, expos, and during the Minnesota State Fair. Leafletting is an effective way to reach many people at one time. For leaflet events, we can use as many volunteers as possible to help distribute literature. Upcoming events can be found on the ARC Facebook page or the Minnesota Animal Rights Meetup page.
