ARC hosts multiple community events throughout the year to advocate for animals, let people know about the organization, and recruit volunteers to help in our work for animals.
ARC/CAA picnic
Each Summer, ARC partners with Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA) to host a picnic potluck at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis. All are welcome! Bring a salad, side dish, main dish, dessert, or beverage to share with the group and we'll provide the vegan burgers and veggie dogs. Enjoy delicious vegan food, meet local animal activists, and join us in the fun this year! You can find ARC's community events on the ARC Facebook page or Minneapolis Vegan Meetup page.
Turkey-Free friendsgiving
Each November, ARC hosts a Turkey-Free Friendsgiving potluck for everyone to attend! Bring a vegan main dish, side dish, or dessert to share; ARC provides the vegan turkey roasts! Visit our vegan cheese table and try a variety of cheeses you can buy locally or make yourself. Each year, we look forward to sharing a special meal with all of our friends, longtime and brand new. You can find more information about this event on the ARC Facebook page or Minneapolis Vegan Meetup page.
hotdish cook-off
Each year, the Animal Rights Coalition hosts their Annual Hotdish Cook-Off at Fuller Park in Minneapolis with a different theme for each year. In most recent years, the theme has been mac and cheese and brunch; This year's theme is lasagna style! 12 contestants make their best homemade vegan hotdish for a chance to win Audience Favorite or Judge's Choice. Attendees pay $1/sample of hotdish they would like to try, then vote for their favorite recipe. Attendees have a chance to win, too! Enter your name when you arrive for the opportunity to win one of our exciting door prizes! If you're interested in attending the Hotdish Cook-Off, RSVP on the ARC Facebook page or Minneapolis Vegan Meetup page.
Volunteer appreciation
Each year, ARC hosts a Volunteer Appreciation party for the dedicated volunteers who help advocate for animals with our organization. Held at Minnehaha Park, ARC staff and board members say thank you by providing a vegan meal and recognizing each individual volunteer for their part in helping ARC fight for animals. If you would like to join us at the next Volunteer Appreciation party, all you have to do is volunteer with ARC! You can find upcoming events on the ARC Facebook page to start volunteering.
guest Speakers
ARC hosts gatherings for well-known advocates, authors, and artists to educate the community and bring together like-minded individuals. In 2019, we were honored to welcome Dr. Will Tuttle and wife, Madeleine, to speak about living peacefully with animals and share their musical talent. You can find all Guest Speaker events on the ARC Facebook or either of the Meetup pages, Minnesota Animal Rights Meetup or Minneapolis Vegan Meetup.
Documentary screenings
ARC organizes documentary screenings at local theaters and libraries to bring together the animal rights community, meet new people, and discuss the film with like-minded individuals. In late 2019, ARC met at the Rosedale Theatre in Roseville to catch the premiere of well-known documentary, The Game Changers. In early 2019, we held a screening of Love and Bananas at Penn Lake Library with pizza provided by Galactic Pizza; we had a great turnout! If you're interested in attending a documentary screening, check out the ARC Facebook or either of our Meetup pages, Minnesota Animal Rights Meetup or Minneapolis Vegan Meetup.
